The Kathy Hospice provides a peaceful and comfortable environment for individuals in need of end of life care. The home-like hospice - the first of its kind in Washington County - is named in memory of Ron Komas' wife, Kathy, who died in June 2002. Recognizing the need for residential hospice care, Ron Komas led the effort to raise funds for the Kathy Hospice.
The Kathy Hospice opened February 6, 2006. It is owned and operated by St. Joseph's Hospital.
The residential hospice includes eight single-patient bedroom suites with private baths, outside patios, and foldout beds for overnight accommodations of loved ones. It also provides family areas including a kitchen, dining room, lounge, children's play room, sunroom, meditation room, library, and a great room with a fireplace.
