Heart care services at St. Joseph's Hospital and West Bend Clinic encompass the diagnosis and treatment of heart disorders, such as coronary artery disease (heart attack, bypass surgery, stent placement), heart failure, heart valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, cholesterol, high blood pressure and electrical disorders.
The Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Cardiology Clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital is staffed by cardiologists from the Medical College of Wisconsin and provides a full-time presence for interventional cardiology, general cardiology and electrophysiology services. Patients also have direct access when needed to cardiac services at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin, an academic medical center, including heart catheterization, heart surgery and other specialized procedures.
Cardiologists evaluate patients with suspected heart disease by listening to the patient’s history and performing a complete physical examination to determine the best possible treatment for the individual. Our cardiovascular care partners are known for their clinical expertise, leadership experience and education base. They are active in the research and development of numerous cardiac and peripheral vascular techniques and medical treatments.

Stress Testing
Stress Testing is done to determine heart function. Several types of stress testing techniques are available by decision of your physician such as:
- Standard Treadmill Stress Test
- Nuclear Treadmill Stress Test
- Persantine Stress Test
- Dobutamine Echo Stress Test

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program 
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to promote optimum healing and conditioning of the heart after heart events such as bypass surgery, heart attack, balloon angioplasty, stent placement, heart transplant and valve replacement. Cardiac Rehabilitation is covered by Medicare and most other insurance companies.
The Cardiac Rehab Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital meets 3 days per week with 9 classes offered each day to meet patient’s needs. Phase 1 - Inpatient program; Phase 2 & 3 – Outpatient programs.
St. Joseph’s Hospital Cardiac Rehab offers weekly education classes relating to heart care, including: How the Heart Works, Heart Procedures, Heart Medications, Understanding Cholesterol, Stress Management, Relaxation Techniques, Going to Grocery Store/Restaurant, Influence of Salt on Blood Pressure, Congestive Heart Failure, Proper Exercise, Emotional Aspects of Heart Disease and Addictive Patterns.
The Cardiac Rehab Support group, "The Hearty Bunch," meets the last Tuesday of January, April, and October at 7:00 pm at the Cedar Ridge Apartments.

Staff from the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Wellness Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital offer one-on-one discussion time for people who want to learn about tools that can help them quit their use of tobacco.
